What is Getting Ratioed on TikTok?

Ratioed on TikTok

If you have been on TikTok for a while, you have 100% seen a video that has a comment that says “Ratioed on TikTok.” But what does that even mean? Let me break it down for you. First off, 99% of the time getting a comment on your video that says “ratioed” is not a good thing. There are a couple different reasons you could get this comment (Ratioed on TikTok).

Leaving a Comment on a TikTok

The first example of getting ratioed means that a person commented on a video and the comment that he or she posted has more replies than likes. This usually happens when someone posts a comment on a TikTok that people find offensive. So instead of liking it, they comment on it to show their disapproval. A lot of these comments will have the word “ratioed” to let the commenter know that their comment is not doing well in the eyes of the other viewers. Just because a comment gets “ratioed” does not mean that it did not get a lot of likes. The only thing that matters is if the number of comments is more than the number of likes.

Making a Video

Another example of getting ratioed on TikTok comes from the poster of the video itself. If the video in question has more comments or shares than likes, you can bet that a ton of the comments will be people letting the poster know that their content is not good.

This tactic of letting users know that their content is getting ratioed can be both a good or bad thing. TikTok has a major problem with bullying and getting ratioed can both help or add onto this problem. It can help by letting users who have said something offensive understand that this type of behavior will not be tolerated and their comment was not well received by the public.

It can add to this bullying problem when people comment “ratioed” on a user’s video when they are trying to make fun of their specific content. TikTok has users of all ages posting all types of content, and some of the content posted is really strange and not for everyone. Even if the content is not entertaining, as long as it is not offensive, there is no need to make fun of the creator. After all, they are just trying to have fun, not please everyone.

At the end of the day, TikTok can either be an extremely toxic social media platform, or it can be a safe space for all. It just depends on how other users are treating content creators. If you have the chance, make sure you are being a decent human being, others may follow in your footsteps.
